The 650b all-road tourer frameset.

The frames are hand built in the UK with either Reynolds 631 (525 stays) or Reynolds 853 (+ 725 stays). The forks are Reynolds 631.

We have designed two framesets - one for 700c wheels and the other for 650b's. This one is the 650b frame and fork set.

  • The Skyelander 650b is a British made touring bike hand built by one of England’s top framebuilders, Lee Cooper.

Think Randonneur, think Compass tyres, think brevet, think handlebar bag - this is the frame for that bike. But supremely well made.

The lugged frame is built using air hardened Reynolds 631 for the main frame. The stays are Reynolds 525. An upgrade to Reynolds 853 main frame with Reynolds 725 stays is an option or alternatively the Compass Mule tubeset with Toei special fork blades. For sizing click here and geometry click here

This frameset comes with a choice of a threaded steerer for a quill stem (1") or a threadlees steerer (1 1/8") for an ahead stem. N.B. Please note the Compass Mule tubeset is only available with a 1" (threaded or threadless steerer) if you would like the frame lugged.

The Skyelander 650b frameset has clearance for 42mm 650b tyres with mudguards or 48mm without mudguards. It was designed with Compass tyres in mind.

The bike has mid to low trail for a moderate front end load. If you will be carrying heavier loads front and back we suggest modifying the geometry to mid+ trail for increased stability. Get in contact with us if that's the case on  We also offer the Jan Heine favoured 39mm low trail as an option.

The frames are lugged for optimal strength, but the frames can also be fillet brazed. We offer both an ahead and quill version.

It is finished in Dusk Blue, although other colours are available. The frames are double powder coated for increased durability and longevity.

All of our frames are finished to a high standard. This includes facing the top and bottom surfaces of the headtube, reaming the head and seat tubes as well as facing the bottom bracket shell.

If you're interested in a fillet brazed version or bespoke geometry, send us an email to, give us a call or arrange an appointment to come and see us to discuss it further.
