THE WHEELS

The DT Swiss R460 DB disc rims provide a good combination of weight savings versus traditional touring rims but strength as a result of their CX predigree. They also allow for a good range of tyre widths – from 23mm right up to the recommended max on the Stanforth Conway of 47mm (without guards). They are tubeless ready although we will fit with inner tubes.

We also offer the 32 hole DT Swiss R500DB rims, and others on request.

The DT Swiss rims are hand built onto Bitex BX106 QR centrelock disc hubs. The BX106 are lightweight and very reliable hubs. Bitex hubs use ABEC5 TPI bearings. These are among the best quality available and will help your hubs to roller faster for longer. The hubs are easy to take apart with basic tools for servicing and use standard size bearings.

Bitex use their own patented 6 pawl design. There are two groups of pawls which work in teams of three simultaneously. Each pawl is held in place by a spring/clip and is also given an additional coil spring. This design is fast to engage, is quiet and is very durable. It provides either 48 or 56 point engagement, depending on the hub.

All of our wheels are hand built in Sussex. Wheels hand built by an experienced builder can significantly increase their strength versus those machine built. We only use stainless steel spokes.

The wheels are finished off with Marathon Racers 35mm, one of Schwalbe's fastest touring tyres. Panaracer Gravelkings (43mm) are also an option. We now use Schwalbe inner tubes on all of our wheels.

If you would like other tyres fitted e.g. Compass, Schwalbe Marathon Supreme, Schwalbe G-One etc, just call or email us to discuss.

For heavier riders we can tweak a few things - the frames' tubes, the rim choice and the tyres - please get in touch if this is of interest
